  • modal verbs

The course project

During the course, we looked at the various ways in which we can look at verbs.

The project work is in several parts.

The first part looks at regular and irregular verb forms.

You are given the base form of the verb. You need to give the infinitive, the past tense and past participle of the given verbs.

I'll show you some examples, to show you what I mean.

Examples:

walk: to walk, walked, walked. (a regular verb example)

eat: to eat, ate, eaten. (an irrregular verb example)

Now it's your turn.

Please try these for yourself. If you upload your answers to the project area, I will check them for you and give you feedback.

Project Questions:

speak, talk, fly, fry, have, put, seek, sort, cut, swim.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next part concerns active and passive voice. You need to turn the active voice sentence into its corresponding passive voice. If this can't be done, give the answer 'intransitive'.

I'll show you some examples, to show you what I mean.

Examples:

Tom read the book. ==> The book was read by Tom.

The baby slept for 12 hours. ==> intransitive.

Now it's your turn.

Please try these for yourself. If you upload your answers to the project area, I will check them for you and give you feedback.

Project Questions:

The students sang a song.

I took 5 photographs.

The car is in the garage.

You must complete the work by Friday.

Her mother waters the flowers.

Peter is not happy.

Does Barry own a red car?

Emma played all day.

The dog ate the cat's dinner.

We should go home soon.
